"I felt alive again after suffering for months" Matt's Keto Success Story
Written by Molly Becker, Director of KetoBars on December 16th 2020
For Matt, keto has been about more than
weight loss. Matt started his keto journey to help improve his brain health after undergoing
surgery for a brain tumor. That was 3 yeas ago, and Matt hasn't looked back since.
Matt is currently thriving as a professional stock car racing driver and team owner.

Q1How did you feel when you first started keto?
Fantastic, keto cleared up all my brain fog from my brain surgery and different medicines I was taking. I felt alive again after suffering for months.
Q2Were there any times that you wanted to quit? What did you do to stay motivated when it got hard?
I went off keto for a few months at one point, and I realized how good I felt on keto and missed
it. I think it’s one of those things of you never know how good things were until it’s gone.
But I believe with snacks and the expanding keto market, such as Keto Bars and Warm Ups, it makes
it more sustainable to stay keto. In the beginning of starting keto in 2017, there weren’t many
options for low carb lifestyles. Now, thankfully, they’re everywhere.
Q3What advice would you give to someone who is just starting keto?
The keto flu is real, make sure you stay up on electrolytes. Once you get past that it’s so easy
as long as you have the right mindset. You have to think of it as a lifestyle, not a diet, to be
able to maintain long term.
At the same time, people use it to just drop weight, which it is a great tool for. No matter what
the goal is, you need to make sure you log things in a daily nutrition journal or app, to make
sure you are actually following the macro guidelines of keto.
Q4What is your favorite way to stay active?
I love my Peloton bike as well as some weight lifting. I’m no huge strong guy, but my years in NASCAR keep me wanting to stay in a fit mindset. Normally, the more fit I am the better I feel inside and look outside and boosts my confidence.
Q5What are your go-to keto recipes?
I love cream cheese chocolate pudding, as well as a skillet lasagna keto style. I’m a huge steak
guy, so anything with meat, ribs, wings, etc. I’m all in.
I’m not huge on making keto desserts, which makes me a better customer for products like Keto Bars
that already taste delicious and don’t need me to bake something...because I’m very bad at it!
Q6What is your favorite Keto Bars product and flavor?
Mint Chocolate Keto Bars!
Q7What book have you read that's had a positive impact on your life?
10x rule by Grant Cardone, Rich Dad Poor Dad, and Grain Brain by Dr Perlmutter.
