Q1How did you feel when you first started keto?
I felt AMAZING. For the first time in my life I felt ALIVE. My daily stomach aches, headaches, and joint pain went away as soon as I cut out wheat, sugar and crummy oils and additives. My depression lessened and I had an incredible amount of energy! That was when I KNEW it was a lifestyle, not just a diet.
Q2Were there any times that you wanted to quit? What did you do to stay motivated when it got hard?
There are times that are difficult but I always think back to my why: it feels GOOD to FEEL GOOD! I remember how horrible I felt every day eating the way I was and I don't ever want to feel that way again. It helps to have a support team in your family, friends and the keto community. I also found fitness and lifting! Lifting to me is almost meditative or mentally restorative. I feel like I'm in the zone when I'm focusing on my breathing and movements. So when I work out, I feel reinvigorated and THAT keeps me going!
Q3What advice would you give to someone who is just starting keto?
Think about why you are wanting to make this change for yourself. Always keep that in the forefront of your mind. Know that change is not always easy or slow and you have to stick with it, even when things get hard. You might slip up or make mistakes but never be afraid to get back up and dust yourself off! You are worth it!
Q4What is your favorite way to stay active?
Q5What are your go-to keto recipes?
Breakfast for dinner! I also like to keep it simple with great steaks or smoked meats. My go-to lunches are chicken or egg salad with homemade mayo and pork rinds. Also, I love taco salads!
Q6What is your favorite Keto Bars product and flavor?
The Chocolate Peanut Butter Keto Bars!
Q7What book have you read that's had a positive impact on your life?
The 5 Minute Journal, The Daily Stoic and Tao Te Ching
